Susswassertang with red cherry shrimp

Susswassertang (Freshwater Seaweed)

This freshwater seaweed is still fairly new to the U.S.A. aquarium trade, but it’s pretty fabulous. It doesn’t root, it just drifts about, growing, and providing biofilm surfaces and hiding spaces for shrimp.

Our current best understanding is that it is a fern gametophyte (not a liverwort!) of the genus Lomariopsis.
